Integration With Survision LPR Cameras

A New Era of LPR Technology

We are thrilled to announce a significant enhancement to our parking management solutions at OperationsCommander. We have successfully integrated with Survision’s cutting-edge License Plate Recognition (LPR) cameras, expanding our capabilities and providing even more robust solutions for our clients. This integration marks an exciting milestone in our commitment to delivering innovative, efficient, and reliable parking management systems.

Currently, OperationsCommadner is only utilizing the PicoPak camera by Survision. The PicoPak camera is the world’s smallest mobile LPR/ANPR camera used for parking enforcement. OperationsCommander highly recommends this reliable mobile LPR camera for all your mobile parking enforcement needs.

It’s easy to set up, has low energy consumption, weighs just above a pound, and is extremely flexible and easy to install into any vehicle. It also supports high vehicle speeds (155mph) while recording at a fast 60 FPS to ensure clarity.

Key Benefits of the Survision Integration

Enhanced Accuracy and Performance

Survision LPR cameras employ advanced optical character recognition (OCR) algorithms and neural networks to ensure license plates are read in real-time. They learn from plate readings, increasing performance over time. This, in turn, ensures high precision in license plate recognition, which translates to more efficient parking management and an improved user experience.

Seamless Day and Night Operations

Equipped with infrared (IR) illumination, Survision cameras deliver consistent performance around the clock, ensuring our parking management systems function effectively regardless of lighting conditions. Survision cameras, including the PicoPak, also have adaptable LED lighting that reflects the environment its in to ensure and maintain a clear image. When not needed, the camera light turns off automatically to save power.

Versatile Application

The integration allows us to help clients deploy top-notch LPR technology in just about every environment worldwide. Survision’s cameras are built to withstand harsh weather conditions, guaranteeing reliable performance in temperatures ranging from -40°C / °F to +55 °C / 131 °F. The cameras have waterproof IP66 removable connectors that help them withstand wet, damp weather.

Survision cameras also work with every license plate from every country or region, including tricky, hard-to-read vanity plates. Regarding infrastructure, Survision cameras also help reduce infrastructure spending as you won’t need to worry about annoying server installations. The license plate recognition action happens within the camera’s AI-powered firmware.

Improved Security and Monitoring

Integrating Survision LPR cameras enhances our clients’ security features. OperationsCommander’s real-time monitoring capabilities and the quality of these cameras help security teams better track vehicles, enforce parking rules, and ensure the safety of the premises.

Cost-Effective Solutions

Our integration with Survision cameras brings cost-efficiency to our clients. Automated license plate recognition reduces the need for manual intervention, streamlining operations and reducing operational costs. Survision cameras also have a very high-quality confidence level. Survision uses AI-powered calculations to measure how accurately a license plate is read correctly. This means when the cameras are being used correctly, operators can rely much more on the accuracy of readings, reducing the amount of manual work when it comes to parking enforcement.

What This Means for Our Clients

For existing clients using the PicoPak camera by Survision, this integration offers an opportunity to upgrade and benefit from the latest advancements in LPR technology. For new clients, it means access to a broader range of high-performance LPR solutions tailored to their specific needs. We aim to provide customizable solutions that enhance operational efficiency, security, and user experience.

Setting Up Your Survision PicoPak LPR Camera

We have provided a detailed setup guide to help our clients get started with their new Survision PicoPak LPR cameras. This guide ensures a smooth transition and optimal system performance.

Powering the Camera

Your Survision PicoPak camera should come with a cable to provide power. The camera connects to the PL8RDR wirelessly—power on both the PL8RDR computer and the Survision camera.

Connecting to a Handheld Device

In order to scan plates, the PL8RDR computer will need to be connected to a handheld device running the OPS-COM enforcement app. The PL8RDR will broadcast a Wi-Fi network, pl8rdr.opscom. Connect to this network on your device (the network password is T0maha3k).

You’ll also need to enter the camera’s IP address into the OPS-COM app settings. Your contact at OPS-COM will provide this information. Enter it under System Settings → PikoPak Camera IPs.

Positioning the Camera

Choose a plate on a vehicle to be your reference. Park your enforcement vehicle behind it and to the side, as if you were driving past a street-parked car. The camera on your vehicle should be 5 meters away from the reference plate and angled less than 30 degrees off the front of the plate.

(This diagram shows a vertical angle, but the same applies horizontally.)

Connect to the pl8rdr.opscom Wi-Fi network on a device of your choice. The screenshots in this demonstration are from a phone, but any laptop or mobile device will work.

Open a web browser on your tablet (or other connected device) and enter the camera’s IP address.

Click on “Configuration assistant” and continue to follow the on-screen prompts.
